Absolutely! Compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, LED Christmas lights use a fraction of the energy, saving you money on that power bill and letting you connect way more displays per circuit. They also run completely cool, limiting any potential fire risk from hot incandescent bulbs, and LEDs basically never burn out (well, technically they will after 100,000 hours or so of operation—so, that'll last you about 100 seasons!). Plus, they come in more vibrant colors and shapes. All our displays use LED light strings, offering you years of hassle-free service.
Both M5 & M8 LED Christmas lights are a type of mini-string LED Christmas lights made to mimic the look of traditional incandescent mini-string lights, but with a textured shell to spread the light out. M8 LED bulbs are slightly bigger than M5 LED bulbs. M5 LED lights have replaceable bulbs, like traditional Christmas lights. M8 LED lights are fully sealed—making them very resistant to water incursion but not individually replaceable.
Our LED holiday displays are professional-grade and designed to last season after season. You should expect to get may years of service from your display with proper care and storage. The metal frames are powder-coated to resist rust, and the LED light strings are rated to last for decades. In the off-season, store your displays in a dry location and limit direct sun exposure. Check also for rodents and squirrels in the storage location, so the wires don't get nibbled on while they are stored.
Holiday Lites Up is a distributor of professional-quality outdoor holiday displays from several excellent brand partners. All our displays feature long-lasting, energy-efficient LED lights clipped to powder-coated metal frames. All displays are designed with setup and storage in mind. All manufactures have a 1-year limited warranty.
You'll find the following differences generally between their lines:
Frames
Brite Ideas and Holiday Bright Lights make their displays with 1/4" solid steel rod, making them sturdy and rigid but heavier. Holidynamics makes their displays with 1/4" hollow aluminum tubing, making them much lighter but bendable.
Light Clips
Brite Ideas clips their lights onto the frames using color-matched caps. These make the lights appear larger and offer some added UV protection to the LEDs. Plus, during the day, you can better see the color on the frames. Both Holidynamics and Holiday Bright Lights use clear clips to attach their lights, offering a very clean appearance, but no extra color coverage.
LED Bulb Types
Brite Ideas uses M5 replaceable LED string bulbs, so if one bulb goes out, it can be replaced. Holidynamics and Holiday Bright Lights use M8 sealed LED strings. Bulbs are not replaceable, but because they are sealed, they offer superior water incursion protection—water incursion being the #1 cause of a bad LED bulb. Both types will last for years and years in your display.
Short answer: Yes.
All our displays are metal wireframe displays, and most don't stand on their own. Even when ground stakes are included with the display, they serve to keep the display grounded but don't keep the display from falling over. Our ground supports are very sturdy 5/8" steel rod with a unique "h" at the bottom for exceptional rigidity. We like them. But, pretty much any sturdy stake will do.
Go to your local garden center and look for plant or landscape stakes. You'll find many different thicknesses and lengths. Bag twist-ties make for easy attachments to these. If wind is your main enemy, use fishing line and landscape staples to tie from the top/middle to the ground. And don't forget about natural support: you might want your display in front of a tree or a bush anyway, so use that for support.
Our lighted wireframe displays are designed for easy setup and storage. All larger displays either fold smaller or come apart into sections. The LED Nativity Stable Hut, for example, does both.
The easiest method of storage is hanging the folded displays on the wall. Go to any hardware store's "garage organization" section, and you'll find hooks of all shapes and sizes. Make sure they are mounted into studs, as some displays can be heavy. With most solutions, you can hang several displays deep on the same hook, allowing more displays to be stored on less wall.
In the off-season, store your lighted wireframe displays in a dry location and limit direct sun exposure. Check also for rodents and squirrels in the storage location, so the wires don't get nibbled while they are stored.
The beauty of LED lights is getting access to a vast array of bright, vivid colors, while saving a ton on energy. When it comes to "white" LED Christmas lights, there are really two colors of white: warm or cool.
Warm white mimics the look of incandescent bulbs, so these LEDs have an orange-y tint, like the glow of a candle. Cool white (or sometimes called "pure white") mimics the color of white when illuminated by the sun—technically natural white. These LEDs have a blue-y tint that to our eyes appears natural white.
Both colors of white are used in our displays to serve particular purposes. Items that are depicting "snow" or "winter" will use cool/pure white, whereas items that are depicting nostalgia, warmth, or comfort will utilize warm white.
Maybe. The LED colors on each Christmas wireframe display are carefully chosen to bring the character or scene to life. The M5 or M8 mini LED lights come pre-attached from the factory with the colors as shown in the product image. Christmas light displays that feature "sealed M8 LEDs" are molded at the factory for superior weather resistance and are not replaceable after production.
However, displays that feature removable/replaceable M5 bulbs (currently only Brite Ideas brand displays) can technically have their colors swapped. It is a labor-intensive process, though, as the caps and the bulbs need to be individually removed and replaced. If enough replacement caps and LEDs are available, the swap can be done for an additional fee. Contact us to inquire about this.
Any C7 displays feature standard screw-base bulbs, and they are quite easy to replace. If you want to mix-and-match colors, C7 displays may be a great option for you.
You can safely string 20 Linkables together in a series—oh the joys of energy-sipping LEDs! If you string too many together, well, there are fuses for that.
The simplest way to install Linkables is to use Spiral Gutter Clips. These clip to the gutter, and the Linkables hang from the small spiral at the bottom. We sell this clips, but similar clips are also easily acquired at any big-box store during the holiday season. We also offer Gable Clips for use on places without gutters. These clips slip under your shingles.
If you have Gutter Guards, then you'll need a different item. You'll need Gutter Guard Clips instead.
Feeling like you never want to give up the Linkable life? You can hang permanent Linkable hooks or simply use galvanized nails or all-weather screws. That way you're ready to go every season.
See Linkables Installation Guide for more installation tips.
Linkables with "Freestyle" frames mean that the dangling items can pivot independent of the header. Because they pivot, they hang perfectly straight down— no matter the angle or roof pitch.
